Michelle Minnikin

Co-Captain / Business Psychologist

Michelle is the Captain of Work Pirates, a Chartered Psychologist and Coach. After a corporate career she got totally fed up of not being listened to and seeing so many people broken by crimes being committed against employees. So she left and has co-founded multiple businesses to help humans live happier, more fulfilling lives.
She loves helping organisations solve people problems and has a bit of a thing for pirates.

James Eves

Co-Captain / Gallup® Certified Strengths Coach. 

James speaks 3 languages, has an MBA and brings 17 years of experience working in 5 countries across 3 continents. This spans both the entrepreneurial start up and big corporate worlds within real estate, construction, manufacturing and training sectors. Recently he became an assessor for the College of Policing as part of their recruitment drive.
He gets energy seeing people grow, develop, and reach their potential.

Jenny Manning

Business Psychologist

Jenny is a Business Psychologist with 30 years’ experience in leadership assessment and development. She has worked across diverse industry sectors in the UK and Australia supporting organisations to create a step change in their leadership capabilities. With masters degrees in coaching and business psychology, she is a Registered Psychologist (PBA). She has worked in consulting roles and in-house roles, such as Head of Assessment and Development for the BBC.

Fiona Kearns

Business Psychologist

Fiona Kearns is a Business Psychologist experienced in the IT/Telecom and non-profit worlds. Fiona is a member of the Association for Business Psychology and author of ‘How to Increase your Confidence’. She specialises in helping leaders fulfil their potential in business. She loves the thrill of helping clients manage their imposter syndrome to become confident, visible and more pirate.

Olive Amoh

Chartered Psychologist

Olive is a Chartered Psychologist, Registered Occupational Psychologist, and Coach. Her expertise is in leadership and management development, action learning set facilitation, selection and assessment, career and executive coaching.


One of Olive’s speciality coaching areas focuses on supporting people to work through their doubts, fears and limiting beliefs to create the inner foundation and mindset to get unstuck and move forward. She believes that we are all diamonds, multifaceted with our Unique Brilliance to bring into the world. However, sometimes our fears, doubts, and mind chatter can dim that brilliance, sabotaging us from fully expressing and sharing our gifts and True Selves.

Organisational & Coaching Psychologist

Taslim Tharani is an Organisational & Coaching Psychologist. As a coach, trainer and consultant she excels at creating safe and inclusive spaces for ideas and people to flourish as well as enabling people to touch into who they are and who they want to be.  Tas combines her interest in research with her consultancy skills in the areas of equity, justice, diversity and inclusion; health and wellbeing at work; career decision making and leadership development.  She is an exceptional facilitator and frequently delivers training and workshops across the Education, Private, Public and Not for Profit sectors.  Tas values connection, contribution, integrity and authenticity, is passionate about psychology and effectively combines a ‘human’ approach with the evidence-base psychology is grounded within.

Business Psychologist

Paula is a Business Psychologist, Coach and Assessor, specialising in careers and redundancy. She is a member of the Association of Business Psychologists and author of a number of books, including The Career Pause and Pivot and Get Noticed. Paula has written for The Guardian, Psychologies and Marie Claire, among others. A previous background as the owner of a PR agency means that she brings a very commercial approach to the table.

Workplace Wellbeing Expert

Rachel McGuinness is a workplace wellbeing expert with 16 years’ experience in the health sector.  She works with forward thinking businesses who recognise that looking after the wellbeing of their employees brings real business benefits. Rachel specialises in helping her clients improve their sleep, eat healthier, get fitter and become more resilient.
She loves inspiring people to make changes with their health.

Helen Eves

Counsellor

Helen is a qualified Counsellor with a BA in Counselling. She has over 7 years’ experience working with clients with a variety of issues. She supports them to learn to cope with changes in life and the stress and anxiety which can accompany this. She works one-to-one, helping adults to come to terms with trauma, processing loss and managing stress in an effective way to maintain healthy mental health and learning to communicate more effectively with others.

The Interventionist

Helping managers feel more confident, comfortable and capable with sensitive subjects like mental health and suicide ideation so that they can support where necessary, without becoming counsellors or therapists, is something Andrea excels in - no fluff, no nonsense, just practical, straight down the line information so that conscientious managers can do the right thing and sleep easy at night.

Jono is a swashbuckling pirate and an award winning MSc of Business Psychology with Distinction. His mission is to help you improve - be that on your own, as a crew or a fleet. With a background in managing treeplanting crews in the Canadian wilderness, he is now captain and founder of Team Improvus, and works as a coach, facilitator and organizational development consultant. His passion is to work with emerging leaders; budding professionals, students & startups, because he believes we can shape the pirates of the future by learning & teaching in the present; fostering greater emotional intelligence, authentic leadership, welcoming teams, and engaging organizations. His philosophy is that everyone is capable of making their unique journey on their own, but he is happy to provide extra support, direction and tools to increase the effectiveness of that journey. Karen is a Chartered Psychologist, Registered Occupational Psychologist, and Accredited Master Executive Coach. She has a keen interest in neuroscience, energy theories and cognitive based coaching. Karen works holistically with thoughts, emotions and energy to create sustained and meaningful change for both individuals and organisations. When work is fun and energising, people create better outcomes for themselves and their organisations.


Karen’s career spans both the private and public sector.  She has enjoyed being an independent practitioner for the last 25 years; mainly working in the assessment & selection, leadership development and executive coaching arenas. Karen’s approach is highly collaborative and playful but she retains a pragmatic focus on getting results.

Emma Jennings

Business Psychologist

Emma has been a business leader for 18 years and operated as a pirate, to deliver change and ensure continuity of service, while empowering and engaging her teams.


She is now a business psychologist and coach.  She has an MSc in Organisational Behaviour and a BA in Leadership and Management. Her primary focus is supporting managers lead their teams, by looking at how they can be themselves and to challenge their thinking so they too can be pirates.
